Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 November 2026

Trancendance is a small community dance night in Totnes, run by Jim and Dan. This policy explains what personal information we collect through trancendance.org, why, and what your rights are. If you have any questions, email us at hello@trancendance.org.

Who we are

For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), Trancendance is the controller of the personal information described here. You can contact us at hello@trancendance.org.

What we collect and why

Our community mailing list. If you join our community, we collect your first name and email address. We use them only to send you news about Trancendance events. We rely on your consent: you confirm your sign-up by clicking a link in an email we send you, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email, or by emailing us.

Emails you send us. If you contact us, we use your name, email address and anything you tell us to reply to you. We keep this correspondence only as long as we need it.

Tickets. Tickets are sold through Dandelion, and payments are processed by Stripe. When you book, Dandelion and Stripe collect your details under their own privacy policies. Dandelion shares your name and email with us as the event organiser so we can manage the guest list, check people in on the night, and contact you about the event (for example if anything changes). We never see your card details.

Website visits. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view. Our security tools also log IP addresses of failed login attempts to protect the site. We use this information only to keep the site running and secure, which is in our legitimate interests.

Cookies

We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not track you across other websites. WordPress may set strictly necessary cookies if you log in to the site, which ordinary visitors do not need to do.

Who we share your information with

We never sell your information or share it for marketing. We use a small number of trusted services to run Trancendance, and they process information on our behalf:

  • Brevo – hosts our mailing list and sends our emails.
  • Dandelion and Stripe – ticket booking and payments.
  • Namecheap – hosts this website and our email.
  • Google Fonts – supplies the typeface used on this site. When the page loads, your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address.

Some of these providers may store or process data outside the UK. Where they do, they are responsible for using appropriate safeguards, such as the UK’s International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.

How long we keep it

  • Mailing list details: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
  • Ticket and guest list information: for up to 12 months after the event, unless we need it longer for accounting purposes.
  • Emails: as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.
  • Website and security logs: for the short period set by our hosting and security tools.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@trancendance.org. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
